We began partnering with KOPPESDA in early 2018, after hearing of their good work through a mutual friend. KOPPESDA was started almost 20 years ago, and have focused much of their work and attention on addressing environmental and agricultural issues - everything from improved cropping methods to climate change mitigation and disaster preparedness. KOPPESDA have worked with large international NGOs, and although we're small, we're excited to be partnering with them. We love their commitment to good community development practice (even though it's really hard to do!), and their depth of knowledge and expertise. We're currently partnering with KOPPESDA to set up a fair-trade coffee cooperative that is aimed at improving the income of coffee farmers while also creating some financial independence for KOPPESDA. In 2020 we also began running a pilot program with KOPPESDA that is aimed at helping communities grow high-value vegetables and herbs out of season by using poly-tunnels.
