We hardly consider ourselves experts on poverty - it's a complex issue - and so we don't expect you to be either.  But we do think that if you're a part of the work we're doing, it'd be good for you to have some understanding of poverty - its causes and ways of addressing it.  Below you'll find a number of ideas that have made us think - and we share them with the hope that they might stimulate your thinking around poverty.  Come back for a visit once in a while to check out material we've added.  We'd also love to hear about any particular questions or topics you think would worth exploring, or what your responses were to the things posted here: let us know here.

We hosted an art exhibition in November 2019, and enjoyed interacting with different mediums and artists from around the world - everything from poetry, to photographs, paintings and 2000 hand-painted, fish.  Click on the image to download the catalogue, and enjoy engaging with the creative pieces.

The library room

We've come to realise that we have a stack of interesting books on topics relating to poverty and the gospel, and everything in-between - so we've set up a mobile library where you can borrow a book and return it to us when you're finished.  Head here for the list of books and shipping/pick-up options.

The lecture hall

If you're interested in undertaking some formal studies that wrestle with the practical implications of the gospel for issues of poverty and injustice, we love the Graduate Diploma in Transformational Development (or GDTD) delivered by the AGST Alliance.  It's highly accessible and you'll be interacting with other folks who are working in poverty alleviation.  This is a course that has its feet firmly on the ground and its head in the Bible.  You can find more details here.

If you'd like a higher level of study, but with that same grounded, gospel-oriented nature, we highly recommend the Masters of Transformational Development (or MTD) through Eastern College of Australia - which the GDTD from AGST Alliance is based on.  Our Executive Director Clinton Bergsma has completed the MTD through Eastern College, and now helps to facilitate it - if you'd like some personal insights into the course, get in touch here.  He'd be more than happy to share his experiences of the MTD with you.  Alternatively, click on the image below to head to Eastern's website for more details on the course.
